Weird Baby - Two-Headed Baby Born in Brazil

A Brazilian woman, Maria de Nazare (25 years), gave birth two-headed babies. The birth took place in a caesarean section at a hospital in Anajas, in the state of Para in northern Brazil. Since the birth of Christmas approached, the mother gave her baby's name  Jesus and Emanoel.

After giving birth, she admitted she had been told that she would give birth to twins. After several tests, some time before birth, the doctors revealed that her baby had two brains and two spinal cord but they have one heart, lungs, liver and pelvis.

Director of the hospital where Mary gave birth, Claudionor Assis de Vasconcelos, told the Brazilian newspaper, O Povo, that she decided to come to the hospital because of severe abdominal pain. Mary, who lived in rural areas in the state, not a test of ultra-sound scans during pregnancy and infant abnormalities found out a few minutes before the baby was born at 1:00 pm, Monday (12/19/2011) morning local time.

De Vasconcelos said, "When the doctors did a scan against (Maria), they learned that the baby had two heads and that vaginal birth would pose a great risk for both mother and baby. Caesarean operation lasted one hour. With all the problems we have as a small hospital, we managed to save the mother and baby, who has become our goal. And for us, is a big surprise to learn that the baby was in excellent health condition. "

Neila Dahas, director of the Santa Casa Hospital said, "If both of their brains function, how we will choose the head of which will be eliminated? We will not consider the possibility of surgery. What we have to think about now is keeping the children were in good condition and see how they evolve. "

Vasconcelos added, the mother, who already had three other children, seemed puzzled that his son had two heads. He said, "On the contrary, the baby was received with joy by the family. The mother of two mouths to feed and the baby was with her in the room all the time. The desire of the mother is to immediately bring the baby home."

Mother and baby were taken by air ambulance Tuesday afternoon to a specialist hospital in the capital, Belem, to conduct further tests. They are expected to be allowed to go home this weekend.

This case is the second time two-headed baby born in Brazil this year. Previously, Sueli Ferreira, 27, gave birth to a baby with two heads in the state of Paraiba. But the baby died several hours later because one of the baby's head is a lack of oxygen. viva
